Meg's Must Haves: A Day of Disney Fashion feat. Avenue Plus!
Today's #megsmusthaves is all about style & comfort! I partnered with my friends at Avenue to find pieces that were comfortable and easy to wear without sacrificing style! Then, I put them to the ultimate test. The Disney test!
Ah, Disney. The most magical place on earth, unless you are in an uncomfortable outfit (and bad shoes. Pro Tip: Wear sneakers. Always wear sneaker). Honestly, truly. Is there really anything worse than NOT being able to enjoy your day because you're uncomfortable? The answer is NO.
Which is exactly why when I shop and pack for my family vacation, comfort is key.
From sleepwear to day looks to evening dresses, I want pieces that showcase my personal style but also work with the demands of the day. A Disney trip is very different from other trips (read: 9 miles in 8 hrs), and so selecting pieces that pack well, wear well and feel great remain priority!
LOOK 1: Fashionable sleepwear you can sleep in!
I don't know about you all, but I am a HUGE nightgown fan. Maybe it was because my Grandma wore house dresses, or because my mom wore nightgowns but I love them. My sister, wouldn't be caught dead in one. But me, I am a nightgown / house dress/ muumuu lover. So when I found this gorgeous cotton/lace maxi length nightgown in this beautiful floral print - I had to bring it on the trip! With a soft cup built in bra, and adjustable straps this is comfortable and functional! Perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee out on the deck in the morning!
LOOK 2: 9 mile, 8 hour comfort!
Also known as the Experimental, prototype, community of tomorrow.
Also known as the biggest of the parks.
Also known as the day you will likely log MILES and MILES of walking and should dress comfortably.
Here's the thing about EPCOT, it's my absolute favorite park. The countries, the attention to detail, the SOARIN' ride! But, EPCOT can take a turn for the worst if you're not comfortable, which is why I wore this Watercolor Striped Cotton Tee! Lightweight, cotton, easy to wear and still super pretty with its easy pops of color. This tee from the Avenue was the perfect balance between practical and stylish!
Plus, it matched perfectly with my nieces outfits. And I mean, what could be better than that??
LOOK 3: A Pre-Dinner Quick Change
True Story: I selected this dress way before I had planned to wear it or photograph it in this location. The colors, the faux wrap silhouette, it all just winked at me when I was browsing the Avenue site, and so I said yep- thats the one! I normally let the clothes speak to me. I rarely plan around the day or the shoot. First, the wardrobe then everything else. So it just happened to work perfectly when I got this in my package and saw how stunning it was, and then noticed I'd be having dinner in the Japan Pavillion in Epcot on the day I was doing the takeover! I believe that's what Bob Ross called " a happy accident".
Anyway, to be totally honest, I ended up changing back OUT of this dress after this photo was taken. Not because I didn't love the dress, or because it wasn't right for dinner (it was), but because the dress deserved more than a sweaty 7 hour's of walking in the 80 degree heat version of me. It needs another moment, but I couldn't resist the opportunity to snap some snaps it in the gorgeous garden setting in Epcot's Japan Pavillion! In the few minutes I was wearing it, I got a ton of compliments (the photo doesn't do it justice, its really gorgeous in person), and when I posted it during my IG Stories Takeover a BUNCH of you were asking for it! It was sold out, but has since been restocked. SHOP IT HERE!!!!
